
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 in 2010), was an American actor, singer and dancer who appeared in movies during the 1940s, 1950s, as well as on television in the 1950s, 1960s and later on. Under the professional name of Adele St. Mara, she won a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation needed] and gained experience working in the studio's "B" features and comedy shorts. Then, she was changed to Adele Mara. One of her early roles was as a receptionist for the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks plays Alias Boston Blackie (1942), as the sister to a wrongfully accused and escaped convict. After her Columbia contract lapsed in 1942, she moved to Republic Pictures, where she became a fixture in their westerns as well as outdoor adventure. [citation needed] She had a supporting role in Don Siegel's Count the Hours and The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch.
